FIRST Robotics is an international robot competition among high-school teams. The robots are built in six intensive weeks, so lots of teamwork is required. We then participate in regional and national events, in fiercely competitive matches.
You should join if you:

What we do:
Strategy:
-Design robot and features needed to compete
-Build, test and ship the robot within six weeks
Design:
-Design lots of mechanical components
-Plan wheels, steering, arms, grasping, lifting devices, etc.
-Program the robot to complete desired actions
-Plan layouts for electrical and electronic components
Fabricate:
-Utilize metals, plastics, and other materials
-Cut metal, drill holes, saw frames, etc.
-Build gearboxes, motor drives, etc.
Construct:
-Assemble frame, motor drive and steering
-Mount gears/chains/motors
-Build a complete mechanical structure
Control:
-Advanced microprocessor control system
-C-language real-time control program
-Electrical controls and wiring
-Pneumatics (air) system
Fund-raising:
-Raise about $20,000
-Corporate support
-Run raffles & events for individual donations
Web Design
-Learn the principles of good website design
-Opportunities for talented individuals with writing and graphic arts skills
Animation:
-Design a 30-second animation of robots in action
Travel:
-Field trips to local tech companies
-Regional competition in Manchester, NH
-May go to Atlanta, GA for the national competition
