Philosophy
The best way to learn is hands-on experience, and that is how we feel at Team Entropy. We are allowed to build, create and push our thinking with minimal limitations. The robot is designed and built by us, the students. Of course, we have advisors to provide insight and know-how from their many years of experience along with management.
Our students are divided into groups so we can explore what we enjoy most. The mechanical team designs and assembles the robot. The electrical team wires the robot and installs the pneumatics. The programming students write the code to control the movement and autonomous operation. Our website and animation teams round out the mix, providing additional opportunities for student involvement. The strong hands-on approach provides a positive learning experience and teaches us the value of teamwork and commitment.
"We are a team that utilizes every member’s unique contribution. You won’t see any of us sitting on the bench or in a practice jersey, hoping to play in the big game. We all have something that we’re good at, whether it’s building or brainstorming, technology or team spirit. Our seasoned “veterans” can diagnose problems, lend a hand, and teach the newer kids how to run the show. Our new members work hard, listen hard, and blow us away with their enthusiasm on and off the field.
We’ve had our share of incredible robots, and while that is a testament to our technological skill, it doesn’t speak of our team dynamics. Respect has always been a priority, and it is this quality that has made us more productive and kept the team committed and content. Without respect, our team couldn’t achieve all the things that we have done.
"
